I've got a 2008 XC70, and the local Volvo dealer and shop says the rear end bearing is starting to fail. They quoted me an astounding $10,000 for parts and labor, Volvo part with lifetime warranty, to replace the entire rear end.
This strikes me as a very expensive solution. Can anyone tell me of mechanics who rebuild the rear ends to replace bearings, rather than replace? I have to believe there is a more cost-effective solution.
The vehicle has about 130,000 miles.
Thanks,
Tubino
Rebuild instead of replace rear end (bearing, $10K?)
