2005 S60 AWD: Steering limiter

Post by MarcM »

Since I've had the car (Sept 18, 2015), tight turns cause a rubbing on the inner fender. 17" "Thor" wheels. Just went shopping for tires and noticed a line that says "Need steering limiters from Volvo installed to prevent rubbing on inner fender" (loose quote). Possible that someone removed them? Are they adjustable? Very unsavory for a premium car to make scrub noises pulling into Walmart, Family Dollar and such. ;) Still irritated that a 28" box International truck has a tighter turning radius by a foot. ;)

There are 3 different sizes of limiters
These cars were never designed for large tires
Tire brands are different widths (of the same size tire), which is why Volvo used Pirellis as the OEM tire. They seem to have the narrowest tread
Run 5 mm spacers on the front wheels and usually that cures rub issues

A 28' box truck is RWD
Mod note. Jim passed away in early 2022, his contributions to this forum are immortal, and he is missed. RIP
