Simple steering fluid question...

My steering fluid is low...manual does not indicate what fluid to use. One of my older mechanics once told me to use trans fluid. Before I do something tragic...what fluid should I top up my Steering Fluid with?

What year is your car? The 850s can use dex3 atf. My 2000 uses the pentosin fluid or equivalent.

Alan - download your user manual (see resources tabs above) and look up your year model in the Specificaitons section.

There was a change from ATF to Pentosin type fluid somewhere in the 2000s....the manual is the definitive resource.

I don't like to put 'exact model year breaks' on this stuff, because we are an international forum and model years do not correspond across markets.

ATF(automatic transmission fluid).
