tailgate trim piece availability and/or PN

I'm searching for the trip piece between the rear glass and the metal gate on the exterior - just below the wiper arm. Does anyone know what this is called or, better yet, have a part number? It seems to go on all cars but mine is particularly bad. Thanks.

This is a u shaped piece to replace you have to cut out the glass and reinstall

You do not have to remove the tailgate glass to remove this or install it. I have done this on my 2000 R and 98 V70XC.

IF you have to remove the original it can take a while and if it is rusted it tends to swell up. I used plenty of silicon spray and a plastic trim tool to remove the original and to replace the new one. I also used a flat blade screw driver with the tip covered in tape to prevent scratches. I did try sliding the new one in but it is too long and has too much friction. Can't recall all the details as I did this a couple of years ago.

Part is called the lower trim molding, and part # is: 9483520

I just took mine off which was a royal pita because it was very corroded. I had to pry broken rusty pieces out of the groove.

It didn't happen on my car, but moisture can be trapped under the trim and that can cause rust. So I won't bother to replace mine, looks cleaner this way too.

Removal is a pain I grant you that! Up here we get snow/ice in the winter so keeping it out of there is a priority for me. Again, it lasted for 16 years so if the next one lasts as long I'm ok with that. I am fortunate to have my car garaged when not in use.
