Lower (rear) Engine Torque Mount (RMM)

Post by MadeInJapan »

Who knows anything about the lower (rear) torque mount on our cars? I just got through ordering an e-focus mount. TASCA has a great deal on them and from what I understand the OEM mount is a piece of crap that craps out on you, besides being sloppy from out of the box (or on your car to begin with if you've never changed it out): http://www.tascaparts.com/oe-ford/cm5z6068a

I replaced the POS Volvo torque mount today after work with the one pictured above. Amazing! What a difference!!! No more shift popping and the car is just steady and fast off the line...before I thought the car was fine but it drives like a totally different vehicle now. I highly recommend this upgrade. And, by the way, there is no need to remove the bracket the the torque mount is attached too...those bolts are a pain anyway, especially if you have manual transmission and/or AWD system. Instead, just loosen the bolt going through the center and the one that attaches the mount to the bracket and slightly jack from under the oil pan with a piece of wood between the jack and the pan...some up and down and jiggling and the mount comes out and the new one slips in. Enjoy your ride like your car's new again!
