I am looking for a recommendation for the oil filter wrench for my 2016 S80 - 2L, 5T, 245 HP.
This one claims it will fit but...I've been reading that the s80 changed in 2014 (2015?) so I am uncertain if this will work....
https://www.amazon.com/CTA-Tools-2489-86 ... ilter+tool
or this one - which is more expensive...
https://www.amazon.com/Assenmacher-Speci ... ilter+tool
I know there is a difference between something that 'will work' and something that '*really* works", so I want the one that *really* works.
Thanks
J

Perhaps I was not clear in my email....I want to buy a filter cap socket that fit over the oil filter cartridge....

Well, I'll answer my own post. I ended up getting the CTA 2489..I got this to use on my 2016 volvo s80 T5, 2l 4-cyl. It fits, for the most part, but it is a little oversized and a bit sloppy on the fit but it will do the job. I was expecting something with a tighter tolerance. I am guessing the Assenmacher V410 is a better fit....A mechanic at the volvo dealership recommended the Assenmacher but it was too late for me. Then again, there is a price difference

I have two types - one fits over the entire filter can like a big socket, but it's made of thin metal and doesn't fit the can tight enough. Consequently it occasionally "slips" on the can when trying to loosen it.
The other one I have had for many years - a canvas strap affair that has a 1/2" square drive piece in which you connect a ratchet and wind up the strap good and tight on the can. Once the strap is tight you loosen the can using the ratchet for leverage. One tool fits all sizes of filters or filter cans.
