Is it possible to swap 1997 850 15' wheels on to a 2010 v50 w 17" wheels ?

Post by bbeels »

Hello everyone,

I currently have a 2003 V70 that I was able to swap the 15" wheels from my prior 1997 850 wagon for a smoother ride with less expensive tires.

I am considering getting a 2010 V50 2.41 (non AWD) wagon. It has 17" wheels and I am wondering if the 15" wheels that I have would fit.

I am not where the new car is, so can't just compare. It's 200 miles away. I like the softer ride of the 15's and checked with my tire guy and they weren't sure. They just gave me a quote on 17" tires.

Does anyone know if the rotors are bigger on the 2010 v50 than the 2003 v70? that seemed to be a factor. Otherwise, there are 5 bolts on each car, I'm just not sure that they would line up properly.

Any thoughts? Any comments as to whether was I am thinking of doing is a good or bad idea?

Thanks,

Brian
