Oil Pressure H-E-double hockey stick! Filter air relief?

Post by Reming870 »

Year 2000/ S70 / Non Turbo / 185k miles

I have changed the oil pan seals. All of them. All was good for a couple days then the low oil pressure light started coming on again. I checked the pressure, cold its at 60 PSI, hot its at 15 PSI at 700 RPM. If you speed up the motor to 4000 RPM there is little to no change in oil pressure.

If you shut off the motor and restart the light goes away for a bit but eventually will return. There is no time sequence to this and its very random.

Next Step? How do I get to the air-relief valve on the oil filter? I have read this may create an issue.

After that? Bearing worn? oil poppit valve? I find it hard to believe it could be the pump as it is creating pressure. I just feel like its blowing by somewhere.

I am looking for a way to get to the air relief valve from the filter housing. Is that possible?

Hey!

Check out this thread right here on MVS: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... hp?t=74112
And this one on VolvoForums: http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=46428

I don't have a V70 myself, so that's about as much help as I can be. There's lots of good info on what and how to check in those, however. :)
