s60 2001y audio conections

Post by sikiemod »

Hello, i've recently bought volvo s60 audio with CD, before that i had a simple one with tapes.
I removed my audio but there where 3 connections. Little one fit perfect on the other audio and green connection as well.
But the brown one didn't, the CD audio had 2 connections who look like in 1st picture one the left.

The connection which i need (that comes from the car's inside) is like this on the 2nd picture.

Does anyone know a adapter or something that can fix it. When i turn the little one and green one to the CD audio it works, but no sound.

Don't know but you do know that you'll have to get a dealer download in order to enable the new unit on your car, right? It's a precaution against theft and no matter what...older units it was just knowing a 4 digit code but on these newer models ('01 and up), it's much more than that. Btw, your first pic did not show up. "No Sound" is the typical complaint I read about a lot when an "unmarried" "HU" unit is installed in a Volvo. It's probably not that connector...but still, it would be nice to know how to deal with it, I'm sure.

That's to add a external CD Changer (small circular one)...some off-brand Bluetooth devices also make use of it. Look in the Audio section- someone did a "pin-out" info thread on that and other connections.

Oh, and now that I look more closely, I think what you have in your hand is that grey connector that is missing the covering. It does come apart in order to finagle the wiring (not recommended) but with the proper cover, it should fit into one of the rectangular receptacles in the picture. I think someone broke it off trying to force it out without knowing that if you pinch the connector right, it slides right out of the radio. My suggestion is to go to a junk yard and you should be able to grab the right cover off of a wrecked vehicle. Pretty much all of these HU units use that connector (until '08 or so when fiber optic cable started to take over).

Maybe I'm wrong- apparently there are other connectors I'm not to familiar with. Maybe this page will help you!

Which HU unit is that you're trying to install? Which unit came out of your car?

Btw, I moved this to the Audio section- I think you will get more help there. I'm leaving a ghost thread in it's original location so you can find it when you come back..

Another btw- there is a guy here who has done extensive work on S60 radio and upgrades. His thread which might be of help to you is further down in this audio section here: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... 33&t=43215
