Hi, I'm new to Volvo world. I recently bought a 1997 850 T5. I had to replace the starter. No problem. My issue is inside the car. Here's what I got. 1. No low beams, but I do have high beams.
2. No turn signals, but I do have hazards. I do have parking lights and brake lights. 3. Speedometer is not working, but all other gauges are working. I have been browsing on here and have seen some similar issues that suggest the ignition switch. I have noticed that when you turn the key it doesn't seem to "click" by the different positions. Am I on to the right lead? I did notice under the driver's side dash 2 places that look like there are possibly missing relay switch or fuses. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

try jiggling the ignition and see if slight variance will correct the situation. My 850 ignition has a dead spot that requires jiggling to correct when the key is in car, car runs fine but no lights, no signal, no speedo.

+ 1 to the ignition switch. But other possibilities are:
1) ABS module failure (it affects the speedo but can affect other systems) - Perhaps contact Matty Moo at Mid-West ABS ( a long time resource on MVS).
2) Check the lighting relays, and earth contacts.
I am no electrical wiz, but ignition switch would be the first place to try and the 'wiggle' may give clues.

Thanks, will do!
+2 on the ignition switch. I had to jiggle mine to get headlights and brake lights to work. Replaced the ignition switch, literally a 10 minute job, and no more jiggling. My main concern was no brake lights if I forgot to jiggle the key, plus I figured eventually jiggling would quit working.
