2000 AWD rear wheel bearing.

Did the dreaded rear wheel bearing yesterday.
It took about 40 minutes to remove the knuckle. Would have been a half hour hadn't the uppermost 19mm nut been rounded over. I was able to take some of the burrs off and hammer the socket on. Came right off.
I had the new bearing and snap ring. I found the easiest route to be take it to a shop and have them remove and replace. That took one hour. With a coffee in the middle.

Reassembly was in the 20 minute range. I did not think the whole affair was that bad. Total time...about two hours. And...I got to replace the non-existent backer plate.

All being said...I wouldn't say to not try it. Just the opposite. The local shops gave me an estimate of $400 per side. My cost...$175.
