2000 S70 NA AC Project In Progress

Post by kallekula »

Here we go again, just when I thought all problems had been fixed...
AC only blows hot through driver vents but cold through passenger vents when set to cold. Pulled code "CCM-312 Damper motor temperature driver Active too long".

So, all this because of that little piece of s*** motor. It just made things marginally easier to get to the motor by removing the dash.
Tested the motor on the bench and it seemed to be working?! But after playing around with it for a while it became obvious that it wouldn't turn in one direction intermittently. Note here that no AC lights where flashing or nothing.

Got myself a used one from the pick&pull for $30. Turned out that the "outside air motor" was the same so it was easier to pull that one by going through the glow box.

Since you've gone this far are you going to replace the evaporator?

Nope didn't change the evaporator. AC works fine now with the new damper motor and blows ice cold on the driver side as well.

I had this problem. ECC code said the drvr temp motor was bad. However, it worked fine on my bench supply. Turns out the ECC itself was Tango Uniform on that particular motor ckt. as it was no longer able to rotate the motor in both directions.

I began tracing that motor ckt. Now that it's so hot outside, it'll make for good indoors work.

Your photo reminds me: I need to look-up how to pull the steering wheel to re-center it, without damaging the clock spring.
