Front Grill Vent Missing?

Post by Oka »

FrontVent.jpg
Currently working in replacing the radiator in my DIY 2001 XC70.
Radiator installed but seem to be missing the hose shown in the pic.
This pic is from my current 2001 XC70. After putting everything together,
I realized this hose is missing. Checked my current XC70, it has it.
I googled same year and trim and all the images I found, has the hose
except two images that did not. Do all 2001 XC70 have this hose?

I have looked around the garage for where I might have placed this hose,
but could find it. Also, looking under the engine I could not find where
it might have been connected to the engine side, compared to the image
from my current XC70.

Thanks in advance.

You can look behind the grill, if there is a hole, there should be this plastic air intake piece. Mpg will drop to the floor on highway if this pipe is missing.

Just got back from the store and I looked at my driving XC70 the compared to the DIY am currently working on. This line goes from the front vent to under the air filter housing. I then checked it and believed it is missing truly. It must not have been lost by the previous owner. Yes there is an opening at the front vent and under the air filter housing. Will order one to replace it if I can't find it in the garage. It's too big not to be found. Thanks for the info.

Yours being a turbo, I think it's this one. Non turbo seems different.

Inside the grill, just in front of the above, there is another piece

Yep, that's the one I am getting from them FCOEURO. Am also getting the short end, End Inlet Duct (9125219)
since it is also missing from the previous owner.

The original owner has the green type, I've drained it before installing the new radiator.

Will flush it also. My other XC70 am driving now has the green type.
Can't I just flush it with water and use the All Make All Model coolant.
I have a 1997 Mazda MPV, 1985 BMW 735i, 2002 Subaru Outback, and two XC70s.
Would the All Make/All Model coolant work for all there cars?

In my garage, I have the Green, Yellow, Orange and the All Makes/All Models coolant.

Thanks in advance.

Nope- you need to use the fluorescent green type- it is basically Ethelyn glycol. Our cars don't like the yell or orange coolant...trust me on this one!

To make the matter confusing (at least to me) the Prestone coolant I use it's orange when I drain it in a white plastic bin, but looks fluo-green inside the coolant reservoir :?
