1998 V70 AWD front passenger window stuck down

Post by CouleeBear »

My front passenger locking switch recently got stuck in the "lock" position, so I disconnected the switch in the armrest. My boyfriend took the switch apart and tried to fix it, and in the course of doing so he says the window suddenly rolled all the way down and is now stuck. I replaced the passenger switch with a brand new switch but it still won't roll up using the master or the front passenger switch, although the locking mechanism functions from both. From what I've read this points to a faulty master switch, but I recently replaced the master window switch before this happened (like a week ago). All the other windows are functioning perfectly. Any ideas?

Sorry no one seems to have replied to you. The issue may not be the passenger side switch at all, but may be the master switch on the driver's door. I you can remove this, you can I thing swap the connectors for the front doors. Try putting the connector on the driver's side switch.

Thanks Neil. It was the master switch. I had just replaced the master 2 weeks prior, so didn't think it could be the problem. But I figured might as well try and ordered a replacement- and of course that fixed it!

In the process of trying to fix the window, the fella pulled the window up hard to try and raise it and managed to pull it off track jus a bit. So it works but will only go about 3/4 of the way up now. Still trying to figure out how to fix that...although the driver window is also slightly off track so I figure it's worth learning how to fix.
