c70 2004 trans flush

Post by gpaqu25 »

So I did my trans flush today. I purchased the flush kit, and had it all hooked up. Started the car, And the fluid came out of the hose not the radiator. I ended up doing the 2+ gal flush from the hose. This hose was the one on the top driver side.

Hi,

I was told NOT to flush mine. Not sure why yet. Your trans still works ok?
I’ve been driving a Volvo long before anyone ever paid me to drive one.
That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.
1998 v70, non turbo, FWD, base model, on the road from April 2nd, 2015 to July 26, 2023.

C70 trans is the AW 55-50 model which volvo claims is a closed system. Same exact model trans is also used in other Import cars like toyota and also some domestics all say the fluid should be changed at a specified interval. I have 2 - 04 c70 that both had trans problems because prior owner did not service the trans. Also know others that had trans problem÷.

The car has 107,000, the old fluid was dark and smelly. I used mobile 3309, Took the car out after for a short test drive. seems ok.

1 of mine went bad at 96,000 the other at 120,000 so you never know. I will be changing my fluid very periodically and put an inline filter because the repairs which I did were not easy. Never want to have to do them again!

That car, that's the flow I assume. I believe I had the same result the one time I did the hose method from IPD. Now I prefer the.Robert DIY three 'drain and fills'
driving in between, and not the hose method. It introduces the new fluid slower and at intervals so it is less shock to the system IMHO.
