97 850 NA injector spacer question

Post by scot850 »

So I have these spacer/seals (depends what web page you are on) that were missing when I bought the car. The would appear to need to be orientated to give the correct depth of injector insertion into the intake. Naturally my luck is usually wrong so thought I'd ask before installing them which way up they go. I think from magnifying the Vida picture and assuming the pictures on web pages show the top side they should fit this way up:

I actually found I had a set in my stash after buying new Volvo items and they look different and have different internal diameters:
Volvo injector seals or spacers
Volvo injector seals or spacers
This is the side I believe should face away from the intake manifold recesses as the back looks like it matches the intake recess.

I'm not sure why the injector seals have different internal diameters. The blue ones may have been from my 'R' or a turbo. Can't recall.

Appreciate guidance.

Neil.

The linked picture matches the blue although the linked picture is black. I had one break apart on me and a kit from Autozone had one that fit- I just used it and have had no problems afterwards and that's been several years ago (S70 T5). The blue ones and the Victor Reinz in the link are the same and are definitely for the turbo car- read description for the Victor Reinz- it says 2.3L. And- I think you have the orientation correct. It could be the same injectors fit in both correctly even though the openings look different in size...there is an outer ring but the larger opening is also tapered and the tapering might not necessarily be necessary.

That is how I fitted them, so thanks for the confirmation.

The backs have a radiused circumference with a flat back that mirrors the machined face of the intake. They sit nicely, and the black new Volvo ones fit onto the upper recess on the lower part of the injector for the NA perfectly also.
