I have not had to mess with one on an 850 but on the 70 series the panel is held in place with a bunch of push pin style fasteners. I think they cost about $1.25 each as I recall and it was very easy to re-attach it, about a 20 minute job if the 850 is the same setup.

The 850 does have push pins. On mine, the holes for the push pins rusted and are now too large for the OE pins. I am looking for slightly larger pins, after I take the panel off and clean up the rust.

Perhaps putting a little hot glue on the business end of the pin would work????

If I had a larger garage, I could have more Volvos.
