97 850 NA spark plugs

Just thought I'd share this. I have just gotten around to fitting the new Volvo plugs to this car, and discovered that they are no longer the single electrode type, but a 3 electrode to a center a bit like the 4 on an E3 that came out of the engine. These are genuine Volvo plugs bought from the local dealer. They claim to have better running characteristics for colder weather. They are hopefully pre-set as I can see no way to adjust them.

Anyone else come across these and used them happily?

For an NA they will be fine, but no good for a turbo.

That is stamped on oem Volvo spark plugs package for n/a....excluding turbo.

This... Not sure when people started spreading the rumor that P80 cars run on copper plugs. Yes the turbo cars run good on them but even the Volvo turbo plugs are platinum, not copper.

My Volvo spare parts pusher told me that Volvo patented the multi sprocket plugs with 3 sprockets. Bosch then made theirs with 4.

I don't know if he's right, but he has been in the game for a very long time.

3 prong plugs on all 80's small body Audis as well. So they have ben around a while.

I've never seen anyone on MVS recommend anything but basic copper plugs for P80's.
