I bought some used replacement wheels for my Volvo because the originals are beat up. The originals are the Cetus wheel where the bolts are hidden behind a fairly large plastic plate. The new wheels I got were also available for my car that year and have a much smaller black round center hub and the bolts are exposed. I know the wheels I bought will work on my car but I don't know about the bolts. I don't really care what they look like and I know that what I have has a normal sized hex head and its galvanized with a conical part next to the threads. I've seen chromed bolts and chromed bolts with a much longer hex portion so I wonder if what I have will work?

Does anyone know?

I don't have a picture with me today that shows the new wheels. I linked to the eBay sale and since the auction is over is doesn't stay on the screen for more than a few seconds.

The Cetus wheels use a shorter head lug bolt. The exposed lug bolts wheels you have as a replacement use a deeper head lug bolt. I know that the exposed lug bolts will not work with the Cetus wheels, but I don't know about the other way, i.e., whether the shorter Cetus lug bolts are useable with the new wheels.

My original wheels were the Cetus style. The newer wheels have the exposed bolts holes needing the longer bolt heads In the short term I don't care what they look like I just want them to be safe. I would think a shallower bolt head of the bolts I have will be ok on the newer wheels if I can get a deep socket on them, it just may not look good.

I know. I figured that out. I want to orde the lug bolts so I'll have them for next weekend if I can. I'm away from my car so that's why I posted the thread. I suspect that what I have will work but not look that good. If no one knows I'll just have to wait and see

Does anyone know? Eshowell misunderstood my question and originally said the bolts wouldn't work. When he re-read my question he revised his response and said he wasn't sure. I'm not sure either so I asked for what others might know by posting this thread. Any info you can share would be helpful and is appreciated.

This is tough with out pictures so people know what wheels we are talking about here.

I swap steel wheels for my alloys and use the same chrome lug bolts on both

Based on description of dark plastic center cap, I'm going with original '99 style S70 wheels. You know, the ones with the exposed deep lug nut vs. Cetus with concealed shallow lug nuts.
