Programming with a DiCe/VIDA

Post by rl0089 »

Is there a way to program components to a specific car using Dice/VIDA? The FM tuner on my XC90 is giving me issues and I have a spare unit I'd like to swap in. Anyone have any experience with this or will I have to bring it to a dealer?

Thanks.

The DICE is capable of loading software packages but it takes a subscription to be able to get a legit copy of VIDA and the ability to purchase the software packages. The last I heard they ceased selling the moderately expensive ($$$) short term subscriptions and will only sell the insanely expensive ($$$$) annual subscriptions which essentially takes out anyone but a dealer or an independent shop that does a very high volume of Volvo repairs.

You will get a configuration error in a Vida scan with a replacement unit but I don't think it will not work.

Try it out. PM me if it doesn't and I can steer you to the right guy who can help.

I was on the website the other day, looks like they still sell 3-day subscriptions for about $140.

They license individual features separately. That price is for all features. I'm not sure if it's fully a la carte, but you don't need to buy all of the features if you don't need them.
