2001 S40 won't start at all
2001 S40 won't start at all
I let my car run low on gas for the first time last week. When I filled up at the pump it had trouble starting. (Which has never happened before) After leaving the station, it would accelerate even though I'd taken my foot of the gas, if I put it in neutral the rpm's would go up. Again, this has never happened before. Then finally on Saturday, 4 days later, I drove 3.8 miles cut the car off for a couple min and it wouldn't start back. Ended up having it towed. When the tow truck driver dropped the car off, Jr said he got in it and started it right up. We even drove it off the rollback. But now it won't start at all. What is happening? Is it the fuel filter? Pump? Please someone give me an idea of what's going on.

I wonder if you filled up with water-contaminated fuel.
Though that would not explain how the car would accelerate without your foot on the gas. Please explain that more clearly.
