2001 V70XC cooling fan stays on a long time. Topic is solved

Hello everyone!
After I bought my new-to-me V70XC earlier this year, I have driven it a lot. I had an issue with the fan not coming on while driving, and replaced it. Now, coming to the end of the summer, I have noticed that, sometimes, the cooling fan will stay on for a long, long time. Not all the time though, sometimes, even after some hill climbing and parkway driving, it will stay on for a minute or two and go off. But sometimes it stays on for a while, even if I just went down the street. Once, it came on even though I hadn't driven it in 3 days. I started the car, turned the ac to off and turned the car off, and it was off. I don't know if this is normal or not. I have had my other V70XC for almost a year and nothing of the sort has happened. Thanks in advance!

If you are that attentive, you will notice some wierdness in Volvo Fans - I think the program it into software just to keep us OCD folks up at night.

I noticed when I ran my 1999 back from Boston with the MAF unplugged due to an induction leak the fan immediately went to high speed on running ...WTF?

I have a 2000 xc .....same thing. At times, it's stayed on for hours.

I noticed if I turn off the fan before shutting car down, it seems to do it less.

Thus far, it's never killed the battery. But these fans are loud! I have noticed it running on other parked v70s in parking lots too. Soo it's common.
