2004 XC70 ECU Flash - loss of traction

Post by 04 xc70 »

Recently had ipd flash. First couple hundred miles were fine. Now I'm loosing traction on front wheels.

It is not consistent. Sometimes it last a few days then gone for a week or two. Sometimes last weeks then gone for a few days. Sometimes just the morning drive to work and fine that evening. Sometimes when engine is at operating temps, but mostly on its way up to op temp.

Boost comes on FAST. 14lbs @ 5K in seconds (seems like milliseconds) maybe 50 feet. Ehh half a block or so...in both sport and auto

Torque steer is hands on! Right then left, then left then right, then things catch up and straighten out...until the next stop light. When this happens takes 10 feet or so then leaving rubber almost every take-off. Traction light comes on. Removed DEM/AOC 7.5 amp fuse and all out burnouts (front only).

Recent servicing and check-ups:

Last year pre-flash
front struts, spring seats
end links
rear shocks
trans flush
oil pan& pump seals
cvvt intake and exhuast
timing belt & tensioners
new coils & plugs
hd tcv

Recent
scanned and no codes for DEM or ABS
installed boost gauge and shows 8-10 normal driving, 12-14lbs at mash
serviced AOC - new pump, sensor and oil
replaced ABS sensors on front left and right and changed angle gear oil

At first this was pretty exciting, but it can become almost uncontrollable at times and dangerous.I did have the ipd TCV valve as well. Thought maybe it went bad so took that off and put stock one back on. Boost was 8lbs for a few days. Now it too has creeped back up to 10lbs and same 12-14lbs at mash. Have not achieved any wheel spin yet, but traction light is coming on and I can feel the front wheels just begging to let go.

ipd has not been the greatest for answers, but have been polite and made suggestions. They have a V70 they flashed and it has lost rear drive, and said "...don't have time to figure out what is wrong". Anybody out there have similar issues? Suggestions?

Thanks - Tim

I've been trying to help Tim off line on this issue, so any of you P2 AWD gurus please feel free to chip in! I think it is a possible angle gear sleeve failure or something to do with the Haldex control failing. I think I recall he has replace the Haldex pump.
