I recently noticed my AC was not blowing cold anymore on my '91 244. Belt was also squealing everytime the compressor came on.
I tightened the belt - no change in AC cooling (no more squealing, of course). Went to Advance Auto and got the AC pro heal stuff. I didnt dump any of it into the system. HOwever, here are my readings:
1. Compressor off: WAAAAY into red
2. Compressor on: approx. 30psi.
When I turn on the AC with blower set to 4 and recirculate on, with car idling - AC vents cool down to 19.5-20C. The moment I apply throttle (even gently) - the compressor starts cycling continuously. 2 seconds on, 3 seconds off, 2 seconds on and so on.
Can someone shed some light on what's going on? I couldnt find any oily residue on the AC plumbing in the engine bay.
240 AC troubles
It did the same thing with the engine revved - needle in the gauge kept jumping. Dumped some of the refrigerant into it and everything's fine for now.93Regina wrote: Rev it up with gauge attached...uh, an AC is not needed in motor city until next year.
You are right - dont need AC till next year - its been quite chilly this week already
