I believe it is designed to be a snow shield but most of the time it is blocking air flow to the condenser/rad/intercooler.
Remove it and you also have ram air, install in the winter if you are concerned but the plastic rad support already covers most of the air intake. There is already the horns blocking air flow, and it's a hot summer here, +30c daily

I haven't seen this posted before so here are some pics, the screw is a T20.
