ECU Reset

Post by UpOnOne »

Hey all

Does anybody know the correct process for resetting the ECU for my C30 T5 2007 model.

I've seen various topics all over google about owners doing this process to various cars after fitting new MAF's etc

Would the remove the negative terminal and tap the brake pedal process to drain it etc, then reconnect the terminal with my key in position 2 work for my car?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks

No, on our cars, you turn off the ignition and remove the key, and then wait 5 minutes...then detach the negative cable first and then the positive. After both cables are off you can try the brake pedal trick. Some people touch the two ends of the disconnected cables together for a few seconds (I believe it does the same thing). After this, reconnect the positive cable first and then the ground/negative before inserting the key in the ignition. I hope this works. Let us know if anything was reset. If this doesn't work, you'll probably need a copy of VIDA/DICE for Volvo specific resets.

Thanks for the reply, I'm going to clean the TB so will do this proccess after that. I've been looking at the Vida/Dice devices online. Is it worth purchasing one?

If you're going to work on your C30, I think it's a must. You can look around our site and swedespeed- there are fairly inexpensive options that work for these units. I have yet to purchase one but I've never set a code or had one that needs resetting. In due time, I'm going to buy these as well.
