1998 Volvo V70 ABS Controller Question

Post by volvooh »

I purchased my V70 back in 2008. At the time, the ABS/Tracs light was on and was remedied with a rebuilt ABS controller from BBA Reman.

Fast forward to 2016 and my ABS and Tracs light is illuminated again. I called BBA and the controller has a lifetime warranty. They have offered to replace it at no charge. The problem is they do not have another on the shelf and would rather have me send the controller back that is on the car and they will repair it. Can the car be driven without the ABS controller? I do not have ABS or Tracs now anyway, so I am not concerned about that...I just want to make sure with the controller off I will not do any damage to the vehicle.

Yes, the operation of the car (brakes, etc) will be fine without the module, you will do no damage.

However, the speedometer will not work. Not a deal-breaker, it is just up to you to decide if you are comfortable with that.

Midwest-ABS also offers a warranty. A difference is you will never need it because theirs almost never fail! ;)
