02 V70 - Upper Torque Rod Mount Functional Differences

Post by krenekj »

What are the functional differences between the two torque rod mounts in the picture:

The original one is on the right, and dealer replacement on the left. The replacement looks and feels less rigid and beefy. Dealer said he had both types, but the one they gave me is the one Volvo matched to my VIN. Should I be concerned?

Thanks.

I like the square one better... it holds up better. It could be that your car was a late year production of the '02 model year (despite the VIN) and so it got the "new design." Go back and have the dealer install the square one. Although, you will be fine for awhile with the round design.
