Transponder

I have a key that i need to change over to another key fob case, and i then need to remove the transponder from the one to another, have someone tried to remove it from the key case and can give me some advise??

Do anybody now if heat can damage the transponder if i remove it with a soldering iron, and the glas is intact on the transponder????

It is a very fragile part, and someone reported having busted it. Soldering iron is a big no, even a cutter is risky. Go very gently and by steps splitting the rubber open, and do not use any glue on it when placing it inside the new key.

I got a old key from the skrap yard and cut it half open as many youtube video shows.. and with a soldering iron i could melt the plastic around the transponder, and that way get the transponder out without damage the glas on it..

but I am unsure if the heat can damage something on or inside the transponder, if the glas is still intact???

The soldering iron tip is quite hot, near 500F, the microelectronic circuit inside the transponder might not be able to take such heat for more than a few seconds. The glass itself will quickly transfer the hole heat to the chip so I'd try not to touch to the glass with the tip of the iron.

Ok thanks.. are there other way where i can be sure the transponder or elektronick not get damage???

you cannot use junkyard chip, the one your car is programmed to is the one to take care of.
I took the one and only one I had and glued and taped it to coil, put under dash and now no key needs a chip.
Dealer has cut them as low as $26 each for me, blanks are as low as $5 on ebay
