Low Beam and numberplate lights issue

Post by Huso »

Hi all,

This is my first post, and i my expectations are very high.. Jk, REALLY HOPE you can help me :)

I have a Volvo S40 2004 (old model). I've always had an issue with trunk light, it would go on/off depending on the position of the wire, sometimes i had to move it/shake it untill i hit the correct position and it would turn on. However..

I realized that if i manage to turn on the trunk light while the engine is running, after a few seconds, the fuse for my front/rear position light + numberplate ligtht would burn.

I therefore made sure that I avoid opening the trunk while the engine is running.

NEW ISSUE: Obviously someone changed the wire position in the trunk, and somehow managed to keep the trunk light turned on even when the trunk was closed. Therefore I basically endned up driving the car (which means a a running engine) while the trunk light was turned on.

Now the above should only lead into killing one specific fuse as it did before, but what I am experiencing now is that the left low beam (driver side) + numberplate light are out. I checked both fuse boxes and all bulbs, All OK.

Any idea what it else could be?

Thanks and sorry for the long story :P
