Hello guys,
I need you guys to give me some advice on buying this vehicle. It prob hit a curb or something and bent the subframe. All those parts in front like radiator, condenser and cooler are busted and need to be replaced. This is all I can see and I am sure there is some hidden damage as well.
The engine is fine, started and sounded perfect, engine oil also looked fine.
The car is in great shape, i would say 9.5/10
What I am looking for is how much it would cost me to repair? Brand new painted bumper costs about 700 bucks from dealer, subframe about $300, radiator, condenser and cooler maybe around $250. These are the seen parts need to be replaced.
The car will also have a salvaged title due to this damage.
Thanks in advance.
Need advice for buying a 07 S60 R

how cheap can you get it?
I just bought a used xc70 and am seeing just how expensive OEM parts are , about double toyota or subaru for most.
If I did not parts shop and do all the work myself( labor is also very high) the car would be way too expensive for me to own.
Resale on these cars is terrible so a salvage title does not make much difference. I got mine very cheap , so should you.

Hi New Orleans. Do you want to know how much will it cost you to fix it or you to pay someone to fix it?neworleans wrote:What I am looking for is how much it would cost me to repair?
I know this is not what you asked, but I'd cap my cost paid for that car (not parts) as-is at $1500. Might be less. That's a quick off-the-cuff number, and it might be a gigantic money headache even at that.
It's a dangerous game, a gamble, and you have to factor that into the cost.

Hey guys,
I got the car for $1500 but will pay 2K with some fees.
Like you said it is a gamble but I took it. I know a guy who works at the dealer and he is willing to help me out to fix it.
He quoted me for a grand for labor, replacing the subframe and everything else.
As for parts, you are right about the $1500 roughly. I am going to try to find used parts on ebay, otherwise I wouldn't be able to afford it.
I am excited to own this car
I hope everything will go fine and no suprises will show up as we get into the repair.

Keep a thread going if you have the time... one that keeps track of the fixes, costs and surprises if any. This topic or a new one would be great.

Subframe $300 would be a used one? If it has round 100K I think it's well worth $2000+repairs even with a salvage title. With repair pictures, it should sell well a few years later

The salvage title won't mean a thing when you're driving it down the road.
Besides those of us who fix and flip them as a hobby, who's actually sold an operational R?

Oh, good point. Um, you might be well served to involve a body shop. It should go on a frame machine. If it was hit hard enough to damage the subframe, it was hit hard enough to bend the front frame rails, or whatever they're called

Thank you guys, and yes $300 max for the subframe used one on ebay.
I am going to get it towed probably tomorrow to my garage and it will be fixed there so I can take some pics and post them here as the repair goes.
