So, I'm planning some experimentation, so I got myself a '96 628 from an auto wagon. I'm planning to get one of my M4.3 ECUs chip tuned, either the stock one or this one, and have an M4.4 for own tuning, somewhere down the line.

But, I plugged in the 628, and the car started and ran fine. Then, after about 10 seconds, I got a CEL. Shut off the car, and found DTCs 335 and 444. The guy I bought the ECU from said it worked fine in his R, with no issues. I can't seem to find any good explanations for these two codes either, especially since the car runs, boosts, shifts great with it on the test run after I got up the courage to ignore the CEL for a little while.

Codes reset, comes back in 10-15 seconds after start. Swapped in original ecu - no codes. What tha fudge is going on?

I found a thread with the exact same issue in here from earlier, but that one didn't lead anywhere. :(

The P0444, is the emissions setup the same on your car as the donor? I thought they all had the EVAP purge valve on the shroud, does yours?

On the P0335, I don;t have any decent ideas. Maybe the new ECU is more sensitive to sensor wiring problems? e.g. https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... hp?t=55757. I know, not a very good idea ...

In that thread, there is a reference to a TSB to zip tie wires away from coil and plug leads. If it's intermittant, that might be it

Yeah, that's the weird thing - shouldn't be any difference. The evap valve's on the shroud, and its brand spankin' new, too. It's possible that it's a wiring issue behind the 335...not a bad idea. It's probably worth a shot to move some wires around and away from the high voltage stuff, anyway - that can't hurt. I don't know if it's intermittent yet - the codes just showed up. Another weird thing is that the tranny even seemed happier - shifting smoother at least, so why would it request the CEL?

Thanks for the input, guys - I'll start by throwing some time and zip-ties in there, and see what that does. :)
