crankshaft thrust bearings 1993 Volvo 240

Well here is my dilemma, Im rebuilding my red block engine (1993 240 B230F readblock engine)
Is it supposed to have "thrust bearings"? I removed the crankshaft and all the bearings, but I don't find the Thrust bearings?????
All the engines has to have it? why my does not have?
All the help from you guys is really appreciated
