2000 V70 moving seat trips SRS light

I am having a problem: when the driver's seat is moved on my 2000 V70, it trips the SRS light. This happened once before, and I had a local indy shop reset the light, which stayed off afterwards for at least a year. This weekend the seat had to be moved to accommodate a different driver, and it tripped the light again.

Does anyone have any suggestions for where to look? Having to pay $50 to reset the SRS light gets old fast!

It sounds like a chaffed wire or a sloppy connector causing a momentary loss of contact which would set off your SRS indicator. If it only happens when the seat is repostioned I would inspect the wire harness from the floor through the seat.

+1 to what kahl says. There are a bunch of wires under the seat that get bent every time the car seat is moves and become more fragile with time. Have a good look at the wires and connectors, and if necessary, dis-connect the battery and remove the seat to get better access.
