Rear suspension thump over bumps

I'm used to driving my 01 XC70 and recently bought the 01 S80 T6. I'm curious if the ride is just harsher in the S80? On sudden bumps it will thump loud enough to be noticed unlike the front. If the trunk is loaded it does seem a bit better, but not much. Is this a shock issue or a bushing issue? I visually inspected the upper shock mount bushings and they look brand new.

If anyone is familiar with this, I could use some advice.

No sounds coming from my 2003 S80 T6 rear suspension (can't say the same thing about the front, but that's a known problem)
