Questions about wheel compatibility

Will 15" stock wheels from a 2004 P2 work on a V70? Looks like the same bolt pattern. also, can you run alloys without that little stud in the rotors? I have steelies and no stud in the rotors. Just want to make sure. I know the lug nuts for steel wheels won't work on the alloys, but I'm talking about that little stud that guides the alloy rim on. Thanks.

You can run alloys without the stud. I usually remove that stud and replace with a suitable 10mm head bolt. The reason for either is to hold the rotor in place so the holes stayed aligned between the rotor and the hub. The stud just helps to align the holes particularly in the dark when punctures always happen! Removing the stud also gives you more wheel options as later wheels usually don't accommodate for this.

If you are trying to fit P2 wheels to your car, if the car is the 98 V70 base you have in your profile you should be ok as long as the brake rotors are the standard fit and have not been up-sized. So if your rotor diameter is 280mm outside diameter you will be fine. The bolt patterns are the same 5 x 108mm, the main differences are the offset (if you don't know what this is, it is the depth the wheel sits further into the inner fender. The larger the offset number the closer the wheel inside edge will be to the inner fender. Typical for a P80 it is 38-43mm, P2 can be as much as 49mm. Most should be ok, but at the front just check the full lock that the tire isn't rubbing, and on the rear the parking brake cable and brake pipe are not rubbing if the offset is greater than 43mm. I have an AWD 2000 'R' and with 49mm offset the only issue I am having is if I jack the car up to maximum suspension travel the wheel binds on the AWD rear sub-frame, but runs ok otherwise. Parking brake cable is different on AWD.

Lastly, if you have sticky balance weights, on 15" wheels do NOT have them installed on the inside of the rim close to the spokes of the wheel as they will get ripped off with the brake calipers. Again check to satisfy your concerns.
