Control Arm Replacement Issues

So last week I had the front control arms, ball joints, and sway bar links replaced on my 2006 S60. I purchased the parts, all Lemforder and took them to a mechanic. The car rides much better now. I have worn down tires and was told I need a wheel alignment, waiting to do the tires until I do alignment.

These issues became apparent immediately after having the parts replaced.

1) When I turn sharp left (such as into a parking spot) I get a loud metal squeal as there seems to be contact. It comes and goes the further I turn in. The strut looked really close to the inner wheel but I saw no signs of contact. I replaced steering stops but those didnt seem to be an issue. Any ideas what this can be?

2) When coming to a stop, I hear a sound like a squeegee. Something rubber being strained and then released. Is this just the control arms wearing in?

Hi Brian,

Did you replaced the tie rod`s too, inner or outer?

There could be different causes of those symptoms, some of them are:

It could be that you did not do the wheel alignment, than you could have to much toe out in your wheels so while you turn the inside of the wheel touches the inner tie rod.
It could be that while he did the job he removed the brake parts (calipers, pads, springs, abs sensors, brackets, brake lines, rotors) from the position to make room and than he did not install them properly.
It could be that he did not torque parts properly or forgot something loose.

Take it back to him and ask him to double check it, if something disconnects while you are driving than you would be in big problem.

I did not do the tire rods.

Got a wheel alignment, the left turn squeal went away for about 15 minutes. Then it came back, not as bad as before though.
