1998 S70 P0505, throttle body adjustment needed

Post by shaker_chi »

I was getting the dreaded p0455 code last week and replaced most of the hoses and the purge valve. Of course, I have driven my 98 S70 T5 about 150 miles since my repairs and now code, but now I have a pending p0505. The car idles very steady at 900 rpms and I don't hear any loping. I sprayed around the engine (vacuum tree, intake pipe, etc.) with some carb cleaner and didn't see any noticable change in idle. Any suggestions as usual are very much appreciated.

Cleaned it out when I did the PCV about 2 years ago. Will knock it out tonight and see what happens. Thanks Abscate.

Just a follow up on my P0505 issue. I took out the air idle control valve and cleaned it out. Reset the ecu and got the P0505 after about 10 miles. I sprayed carb cleaner everywhere with no luck. Turns out the throttle body wasn't shutting completely. Adjusted the screw a bit and now I'm good to go. Drove it about 50 miles yesterday with no codes.
