You want me to ship over some of our mid-20s night temps? Yike, I'm not ready for this! However, we expect 60 and sun today, so the crisis has passed. Indian Summer anyone? I have to tear my roof off next week.

Its called Indigenous People Summer now, the last memo said.

Im afraid to look up the origin of Indian summer - those research missions usually end poorly. Look up 'rule of thumb' for example.

It's dRivable today!

Seriously though... it's too damn hot. Fortunately we're expecting a cool down into the 70s this weekend... hopefully for good this time. It's been miserable!

"Why Indian? Well, no one knows but, as is commonplace when no one knows, many people have guessed. Here are a few of the more commonly repeated guesses:
•When European settlers first came across the phenomenon in America it became known as the Indian's Summer.
•The haziness of the Indian Summer weather was caused by prairie fires deliberately set by Native American tribes.
•It was the period when First Nations/Native American peoples harvested their crops.
•The phenomenon was more common in what were then North American Indian territories."

No apology required. I was being a liberal pedan-dick. I was interested in the origin, though. It pays to be thoughtful of things without going crazy PC, I’ve learned

I recommended a client reorder the names on their web site, when distributor Johnny Poon and another’s territory manager, Tang Yeh, names went together , awkwardly,

Cruise control is now fully functioning! Replacing the vacuum actuator booster pump under the battery tray and adjusting the cruise cut off switch above the brake switch did the trick. The vacuum pump had a damaged spot that looks like battery acid must have dripped at one time. I had one vacuum hose break when removing the old pump. Luckily I had grabbed the one from the pick a part when pulling the pump off of the donor vehicle. After replacing the pump and hose it only worked when lifting up on the brake pedal. Originally did not see the cruise cut off switch when I first wedged myself under the dash. I was adjusting the brake switch instead. Found the culprit upon second inspection. Pressed brake, pulled out the end of it two clicks, released brake and it popped back in only one click. Now it works like a charm!

On Monday (Sept 30, 2019) I FINALLY bought the car I wanted, 1998 v70 xc, black, ugly hood, 144k miles.
1. Yesterday, I stripped out the headliner (cloth came halfway off on hwy, I stripped the rest off at travel plaza) and almost all the interior. Got the carpet vacuumed.
2. Today I personally shampooed the carpet and rugs with non-concentrate Dawn, a $1 scrub brush, and a wet/dry shop-vac.
3. I am about to clean up the dashboard and the entire middle console, reinstall the mc.
Tomorrow, my car is getting an oil change. I will be getting a new oil dipstick in the mail and then an STP oil filter (AutoZone) and a couple jugs of Mobile 1 5W-30 full synthetic oil (Walmart). I have lots more to post from now til before Thanksgiving.
