An easy and fast way to replace oil cooler lines

I am actually in the process of selling my 850, and on the test drive of the would be new owner, the oil cooler line decided to let loose. Obviously I need to fix it before I put it back up for sale. I have searched and there are a ton of how-to's with some even dropping the cradle to get to a single bolt. I looked at it and there is no reason to do any of that.

Here is the offending bolt on the oil thermostat block under the crank pully.


All you need is a 1/4" T30 torx bit and a 1/4" closed end wrench. There is plenty of room when you remove the oil filter


Once you break it loose with the torx/wrench combo, build yourself one of these "things" so you can get a straight shot on it.


Now you have a quick and direct shot at the bolt, it littlerly took me less than 2 min to get it out



The lines are both out and sent out to the hose shop to be rebuilt.

Hopefully this helps out someone from paying the dealer/shop a ton of money to replace their lines.

Make sure you install the metal brackets (clips) on the radiator side of the lines properly, fat side facing rad and use a clamp (not a zip tie) to secure afterwards. I did not note the correct orientation and line popped off, spilling 5 quarts of fresh oil on the driveway in less than 30 seconds. There is a pic somewhere of this properly installed, I think Abscate posted it. Use Volvo oem clips @ 13 bucks a pop.

The car pic looks like a V70 but your info says '96 850???

In his ad he says bumpers, grill from V70, car is 96 850.
