240 od solenoid revisited

240 od solenoid revisited

Am I correct in assuming that 12 volts applied to the end of the wire coming from the od solenoid will cause the unit to engage and result in some sound that indicats it is functioning?

Yes, assuming the earth (ground) contact is good and you don't make contact for too long. All you are doing is missing out the switch and the relay.
