God point. All that glue in the plywood is why it's a go-to here.

Also I think I used heavier plywood for the bottom and top or something, whatever made sense ...

A part out could probably get you your money back easily, so there's that as a backup plan at least.
There is the BorgWarner K24 turbocharger and the R ECM. I sure there are guys that would like to get their hands on them

The K24 is a few hundred bucks, the ECU isn't re-programmable though. Well, I guess it probably is, but a tune makes more sense at that point.
You've also got the headlights, front bumper cover, steering wheel/airbag, interior, cluster "hood" piece on the dash, e-brake handle, and I'm sure a few other R things I'm forgetting. I have yet to see one in a junkyard that had most of those things... the brakes, headlights, wheels, and bumper are the first things to go usually.

Cut a box out of scraps of thin plywood and screwed the panels together.
Wood Shop instructor taught us Elmer's glue is stronger then nails, screws or the unglued wood.
Had a wood & metal shop class in 7th and 8th grade so had a wood and metal skateboard with the curved back end. High school added auto shop. A longtime ago in a middle and high school...

In the school system I attended it was Wood, Metal, Architectural drafting and Home construction. Every year they took the best student plans from Architectural drafting and built it the next school year in House construction. Auctioned off the house and rolled the money back into the program.

These type of hands on classes have been scorned by administrators and students in the last couple decades. I took all of the trades classes in high school in the 70's. Wood shop, drafting, agriculture shop, and auto mechanics. I expected I would use them on a job. Later I decided to study engineering. Most everything I learned has been used sometime since then either at work or home projects. Learning to use tools is never wasted effort.

Agreed!

My high school didn't have anything like that. My cousin took drafting, but that was the closest thing we had to anything of the sort. There was no wood shop, architecture, or automotive.
My brother was actually in the first class last semester to take automotive at his school. It would have been nice to have that option while I was there, but fortunately I was able to learn by doing... and lots and lots of reading on forums like this!
For kids who are just getting into cars or who have an interest in working on cars though, it could be incredibly helpful. I think it's important for high schools to offer trade classes. I wish there were more options available.

In my experience it's not at all the administrators that scorn the trade classes, it's that there is no interest among the students. Enrollment dropped until it was unreasonable to offer the courses. Now they kids can take some CAD ind play with 3-D printers if the school can afford it, that's about it in most public schools. With exceptions here and there of course, e.g. bumdubya mentioned an automotive.
