2002 s80 t6 intrument cluster problems

Post by Axe »

Hello,
I'm having trouble with my instrument cluster on my 2002, s80, t6. The cluster went dead and the only thing that would work is the check engine light. I tried repairing it myself with no luck. Could get some things to work but not for long. So I bought a used, verified working instrument cluster cheaper than I could get it repaired. It's off of the same year, model and had been remanufactured in 2014. I plug this one in and the same thing happens, only the check engine light will come on. The door locks, sun roof and windows all work but no gauges? Could it be a software issue? The cem? I know the instrument cluster is good just not sure what to do next?
Thanks for the help

The dealer will have the best resolution. These cars require EVERYTHING to be programmed into the ECU to work. It is possible that if just needs to be reflashed. Its a dealer only thing too.

Does the new DIM (cluster) match all the number on the side with the original one? Also make sure the alternator is charging fine

Sorry for the late late reply, I did not get any notification that the topic had been approved. Thank you for the responses and I have since resolved the issue. The dim I purchased from a junk yard did match all numbers and still did not work. Took car to the Volvo dealer to see if they could reprogram. Dealer said it was a 50/50 shot so I rolled the dice, didn't work. Seller I purchased the dim from was nice enough to refund my money. I purchased a plug and play unit from xemodex and it is working perfectly now. Xemodex has a nice flow chart for any one having trouble with the dim in the future. Thanks again!
