Radio Problem - 06 V70 - stumped - won't turn on

Post by volcamawesome »

Hi,
I bought my v70, equipped with HU-650 and an add-on aftermarket SirusXM receiver that tapped into the brown wire and another for power and a satellite receiver mounted on the dash. I pulled the radio from the dash (unplugging all the wires connected) removed the Sirius receiver, stuffed the Sirius power wire behind the stereo unit and plugged everything in. Now the radio won't turn on. I've checked power to the stereo using a multi-meter, all fuses are good, I even purchased a used HU-650 (which didn't work when plugged in as well). Help please, my 4o min AM/PM commutes are excruciating with out my tunes.

When you say "tapped into", did it use scotch locks? The little wire clamp things?

Did you check for power at the plug on the radio, to make sure the power is getting all the way there?

Yes they had used some type of connector that tapped into the power (I suppose) I did not remove these, as I didn't want to disrupt the connection.. As for checking the power to the radio, I checked the red wire and brown wire terminals in the male plug that goes into the back of the radio.

I am wondering if I disconnect the battery, then reconnect to see if it 'resets' the electronics in the car??

So, disconnecting the battery and reconnecting didn't work. I also rechecked the fuses for the radio, still good. Am I missing something here?
