Advise on upper engine mount replacement.

I did a little searching but still have questions: I want to replace the upper in cabin engine mount and also the upper torque mount bushing, Volvo 850. I'd rather not replace the upper torque mount with bushing (the one unit piece) as OE Volvo for the bracket and rubber bushing is around 120 bucks. Would like to replace the rubber bushings alone, as OE Volvo pieces. Are the bushings available? Where can I find them? In summary, am looking for OE upper engine mount and the upper torque mount, Volvo only. I realize they will have to be pressed in, but my friend has a shop and the know how. Thanks.

Okay, so I found the OEM parts, but how does the rear "engine torque rod bushing" as it is formally called, come out? The triangle shaped metal thing is attached to the body don't immediately see how.

Is the rubber torn? If not, leave them alone.

You have to remove the wiper cowl and you will see the way it mounts with 2 nuts.

Ah, okay. Yes, rubber is torn on both mounts, front is too small and loose. Car vibrates, so I thought here would be a place to start, other mounts I believe are OK.

These should be the two parts you need:

Double check the numbers before ordering, but these are what i used on my early 1998's.

Only the larger bushing which connects the bracket to the engine needs to be pressed in. Take note of the alignment arrows on the bushing.

Good, thanks. Read the DIY for the lower bushing, upper looks a bit challenging having to remove all the wiper stuff.

Removing wiper and cowl isn't bad, use a small screwdriver or knife and remove the plastic plugs were the wiper arms attach, (I believe it is a 13mm nut, could be 12), remove the (5) torx screws that hold the cowl to the body (#25). Remove the 2 cowl drains. I find pulling the rubber molding helps to make installation and removal a little easier. Then lift and pull the cowl up and slide out, it locks into a double grooved piece of plastic at the bottom of the windshield. Once this is complete you can access the mount.

I have a leak in to the passenger compartment, so that's another reason to explore this anyway, thanks.
