can the voltage regulator be changed with the alternator still in the car? if so please send me a link with a clear write up.

I'll have a look at my 2005 today. I haven't done this on my car, but I can give some guidance.

Read up,on disconnecting the battery on P2 models, order is important.

I doubt there is enough room

Here is a thread that shows that you can do it in the car on a S60 ,maybe the same , maybe not.

Im sure if you had all the right tools, took out everything in the way and had octopus arms you could totally do it.


But from all my personal experiences of trying to half-fast it is almost %100 quicker to take it out and do it right.

I did it on my 2006 V70 turbo with the alternator in the car. I don't think there was anything special to it, other than a little tedious to access. I think I slid my arm in from behind it, under the intake manifold.
