Trying to order CV axles, seeing a variation of 1/2 inch compressed length?

Post by plumsmooth »

I was about to order a pair of Axles from a vendor with a great deal on remanufactured axles and then realized there was as much as a 1/2 inch variation between brands. Should I be concerned of this? I am confused a little...

P.S. It looks like the Manual Transmission versions are a little longer.
And yet it appears that some vendors are selling them as interchangeable?

Manual trans axles are thicker, which means they are not interchangeable with an auto trans axle. The auto has a smaller hole in the transmission, they don't fit.

Lengths are all the same.

Be very careful about where you buy reman or new axles, the vast majority of them are crap. JDS60R has been having good luck with "Import Direct Driveline - CV Axle Shaft" part at OReilly's, I think that is the only one I would trust right now outside of a used Volvo axle.
