96 850 NA GLT Wagon Radiator replacement Topic is solved

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone,

I bought a Cryomax radiator a couple weeks ago to replace the one on my 96 NA 850 GLT Wagon. I didn't get a chance to start the repair until today and noticed the Cryomax I was sold has four cooler ports instead of just two. I bought the rad from a local Volvo mechanic and I'm sure I was clear that I had a non-turbo.

ipd also lists the Cryomax for that make/model so am I missing something? Can I install this rad without using the oil cooler ports? Do they need to be plugged?

Tried looking through the forums to find any posts regarding this and couldn't find anything. Any help would be appreciated!

If you have an auto you will need the 2 on the LH side (drivers side) for the transmission lines. The 2 on the RHS are for the engine oil cooler but they are typically on turbo engines, in which case you would need them. If you do not have 2 lines running to that side at the moment, follow Roberts advice and just ignore them. The coolers are just mini radiators inside the end caps and are sealed to prevent the oil and water mixing.

Seemed counter-intuitive to leave the ports open but I feel better now that you've both confirmed it's not a problem.

I may have even left the plastic caps in there.
