Remote unlock confirmation

2000 S70 GLT SE

When I lock the car with the remote, the marker lights flash confirming vehicle has locked. When unlocking however, only the interior light illuminates, with no marker light flash. During the day you cannot see the interior light so you must assume the car has been unlocked or walk close enough to see the lock plungers sticking up through the windows.

Normal? If not, how can I get the car to flash the marker lights when unlocking?

Also, be advised that if you don't open a door, it will relock.
