I've noticed some V & S 70s have an auxiliary tray built into the lower dash panel on the lower passenger side and some do not. I've seen several in the junk yard and I was wondering if size wise they are interchangeable with the other ones without that tray. They seem almost the same.
My 98 V70 doesn't have the auxiliary tray so I'd like to swap it out with one that does esp since the junkyard will sell the part for like $2-3 dollars over my way.
I'm still trying to figure out a way to install a CB radio in my car and I was thinking the one with the tray would be a good start as I'm sure I could saw through the back of it and have the rear portion of the unit hanging out the back under the glove box and held in with some clips to the side.

The slot is often referred to as a "map pocket" and yes they are totally interchangeable.
